Banjo and Fiddle

Tonight I rehearsed with my accompanist for an upcoming recital my students and I are giving. (She's amazing, by the way. I threw a piece at her that she had never heard before with a rather challenging piano part, and then I asked her to please take it at 140 beats per minute. And I gave her two weeks to learn it. Yep, two weeks. And tonight at one point I actually had to ask her to start it just a touch slower. I'm way impressed.) Rehearsing tonight was awesome. I haven't played with that kind of energy, joy, and confidence in a very long time. The piece that we're playing is flashy and fun, and I think the kids will love it. They're going to do great, too. I'm making them do a group number, and there's a duet and a trio too. I'm excited for our recital on Saturday!

I wish I could be there too. A good accompanist is worth his/her weight in gold.

Hey, we are going to be there! Yay for not having to listen to funeral dirges (what Avram describes as the speed Hymns are often sung and played in Sacrament Meeting).
